Description
The Barringer Buidling was Columbia, South Carolina's first skyscraper. It was built in 1903 and designed by Brite & Bacon of New York. The twelve story building was designed for Edwin Robertson, president of the National Loan and Exchange Bank, the largest bank in the state at the time. James Brite and Henry Bacon were the partners in this design. Growing up in Columbia this building was a major landmark in the artist's life. Blue Sky painted the work during the Christmas holidays in the mid 1980's.
