Artist's Description
I got very experimental with the techniques in this painting. I'm always trying something new. Over the years I've done many paintings of this beautiful dome on the South Carolina State House. Shortly after I completed this one, the Confederate flag was taken down off of the capital building and put on a monument on the grounds. Then the entire dome was refurbished with a new layer of copper so it lost that beautiful patina it had that I loved so much. There is now a minuscule bare hint of the green coming back to the dome.
About Blue Sky
Blue Sky was born Warren Edward Johnson in Columbia, South Carolina (1938). Sky has painted professionally for over 55 years, and is solely supported by his art since 1970. His works are in the Smithsonian and many other museums. He is best known for his trompe l'oeil mural and masterpiece, TUNNELVISION (1975).
