Artist's Description
It had been some years since I had added to my ongoing series of truck butts or interstate landscapes. I had won many awards with them in the decades of the 60's and 70's and even into the 80's. I felt inspired to use our friend and gallery manager Vennie as the model for this mixed media assemblage with the idea of her being the logo for a southern company called "Saint Vennie's Kwik Frozen Grits" partly inspired by her angelic persona and an area called Toogoodoo Creek, not too far from where Vennie grew up in Charleston and McClellanville, SC. It was, according to my wife and agent of 30 years, the most important piece I had produced that decade.
