Artist's Description

This plane was recovered from the Jimmy Doolittle practice raids. It had crashed near Bombing Range Island, on practice runs in Lake Murray, near Columbia, SC. I painted this sitting right there on the spot, entirely on location.

Blue Sky

Blue Sky was born Warren Edward Johnson in Columbia, South Carolina (1938). Sky has painted professionally for over 55 years, and is solely supported by his art since 1970. His works are in the Smithsonian and many other museums. He is best known for his trompe l'oeil mural and masterpiece, TUNNELVISION (1975).
